Tanning is a skin protection mechanism for UV rays. In the outer layer of the skin, in the epidermis, melanocyte cells begin to produce melanin, or skin dye, as a result of UVB radiation to protect the cells. As it travels towards the surface of the skin, the color of the skin changes, the tan appears. Some natural raw materials (such as foods rich in beta-caroten - for example carrots) contribute to the natural formation of melanin in the skin and thus can support tanning and prevent skin burning in the sun.
